Society of Ethiopians Established in Diaspora (SEED) is one of the oldest and prestigious organization, founded in October 17, 1993, by Ethiopian professionals and academicians living in the United States. The society’s mission is “to empower the Ethiopian American Diaspora in the areas of academic excellence, professional development, and community service.”
SEED has been awarding so many prominent Ethiopians and non-Ethiopians for their impactful role in society and their community. Past recipients include Professor Haile Gerima, Dr. Noah Samara, Laureate Tsegaye Gebremedhin, Professor Mesfin Woldemariam, my own uncle Artist Skunder Boghossian, Dr. Richard Pankhurst, Artist Mulatu Astatke, Yidnekachew Tessema, Professor Asrat Woldeyes, H.E.
